Media personality King Mitchy has advised young Nigerians to quit internet fraud, popularly called Yahoo. She claims Yahoo no longer pays as it once did.
Mitchy shared the advice in a recent video while discussing the struggles facing some internet fraudsters. According to her, people who still look comfortable may be spending money they saved earlier.
“Yahoo no dey go again. Yahoo no dey pay again,” she said.
Mitchy also urged people to support friends who now struggle financially. She said some Yahoo boys are finding it difficult to pay rent. Many are now searching for other ways to make money. However, she believes learning a useful skill can provide a better path.
Mitchy also appealed to girlfriends of Yahoo boys to encourage them to learn skills. She urged them to avoid pressuring their partners to maintain an expensive lifestyle.
“If you are a girlfriend to a Yahoo boy, encourage that boy now to learn a skill,” she said.
She also advised young women not to depend on men for expensive gifts. According to her, young people should focus on building sustainable sources of income.
Meanwhile, Mitchy warned young boys against choosing internet fraud as a career.
“If you are watching my video as a young boy and you feel like, ‘Oh, as I grow up I’m going to become a Yahoo boy,’ don’t do it,” she said.
She suggested barbering, social media marketing, car sales and real estate promotion. Her message comes as a call for youths to explore legitimate ways to earn and build their future.
