‘You’re author of your fate’ — APC tackles ADC

Felix Morka

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC). It said the party caused its own crisis.

Earlier, the ADC accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of acting under pressure from the APC. The party linked the move to INEC’s decision to withdraw recognition of the David Mark-led national working committee (NWC).

However, in a statement on Thursday, Felix Morka, national publicity secretary of the APC, rejected the allegation.

He dismissed claims that the ruling party is working to destabilise the ADC.

Instead, he described the opposition party as disorganised. He also accused it of pushing conspiracy theories.

“The ADC has distinguished itself as a peddler of conspiracy theories,” he said.

Furthermore, Morka said the crisis in the ADC is self-inflicted.

He accused the party’s leadership of violating its own rules.

He alleged that the David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola-led faction seized control of the party.

According to him, they acted in disregard of the party’s constitution and due process.

Consequently, he said INEC acted within the law.

“INEC’s decision is valid in law, justified in fact, and consistent with democratic practice,” he said.

Moreover, Morka urged the ADC to accept responsibility.

“It is irresponsible for the ADC to blame others for problems of which they are the sole architects,” he said.

He added that the crisis raises concerns about the party’s capacity to govern.

“A party that cannot fix itself cannot fix Nigeria,” he said.

Meanwhile, Morka said the APC remains focused on governance.

He said the party will continue to deliver on its policies.

Finally, he added that the administration of President Bola Tinubu will strengthen democratic institutions and promote national development.
