2027: No Federal Appointments If You Lose Polling Units – Abia APC Tells Members

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State has warned its members that poor performance in the 2027 election could affect their chances of securing federal appointments.

The state APC chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, said party leaders who fail to deliver their polling units, wards or constituencies will not qualify for federal appointments under the current administration. Chukwu spoke on Sunday at the party secretariat in Umuahia during a post-primary election reconciliation meeting.

APC To Track Members’ Performance

The chairman said the party would monitor the performance of its leaders and stakeholders during the 2027 election. He said the results from their polling units, wards and constituencies would be published after the election.

The results, according to him, would help the national leadership assess the contribution of each party member. Chukwu urged members to remain united and focused. He said the APC must work together to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in Abia State. He also warned House of Assembly candidates and other stakeholders against putting the interests of other political parties above that of the APC.

‘No Appointment If You Cannot Win’

Chukwu said the party was working on a system that would reward members based on their electoral performance.

“Let me tell you, we are working out a modality where people will be rewarded according to their output. If you think you have contacts in Abuja and you lose your polling unit, ward and constituency, and you expect to be made a minister, it is impossible under this regime.”

He said the party would publish the polling results of its leaders and stakeholders after the election.

“Immediately after this election, we will publish the polling units of all the leaders and stakeholders of the party. If you cannot win your polling unit, ward and constituency, you have no business being made a federal commissioner or a minister.”

Chukwu said the APC needed to adopt a different approach to political appointments.

“Things must change, and we must follow a new order,” the Abia APC chairman said.

APC Begins Reconciliation Ahead Of 2027

Meanwhile, APC member Sam Anya said the party had established a structure in Ohafia. He said the structure would help the APC secure victory for Tinubu and other party candidates in the state. Chukwu has also inaugurated a peace committee to promote unity within the party. The committee, headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu, will work to reconcile members ahead of the 2027 election.
