Nollywood actor Yomi Fash-Lanso has sparked reactions online after a video showed him distributing bread and other food items bearing the All Progressives Congress (APC) logo in Lagos State. The video showed the veteran actor handing out food packages at a roadside location. Several residents gathered around to collect the items.

The bread packages displayed the APC logo, while some of the people involved in the exercise also wore clothing with party branding. Fash-Lanso wore a white shirt and green cap with APC and local government branding. Individuals wearing iCARE Foundation T-shirts also helped with the distribution. Residents could be seen collecting white plastic bags containing bread and other food items.

Distribution Sparks Reactions Online
The video has generated mixed reactions on social media. Some Nigerians criticised the use of political branding during a food distribution exercise. Others questioned the reason behind the initiative. Some users asked whether the exercise was simply meant to provide food to residents or had a political motive. The reactions come as many Nigerians continue to face rising food prices and pressure on household incomes.
Social Media Users Criticise Exercise
One user, Monsuru-Temilade Enitan, described the development as reflecting the “personal interests” of some Nigerian entertainers.
“I didn’t know that fools could bring themselves down to this level because of personal interest and selfish reasons,” the social media user wrote.
He added, “A lot of these actors are a real disgrace to Nigeria, especially Yoruba actors.” Another user, identified as St Samson, also criticised the distribution.
“After una make dem suffer una give dem bread as what?” he wrote.
Nigerians Link Distribution To Economic Hardship
Reacting to the video, Richard Iheanacho said the development showed the level of economic hardship facing Nigerians.
“This is a proof that ordinary Nigerians can no longer afford to buy food for themselves,” he wrote.
He also said Nigerians would not reward those responsible for their economic difficulties in the 2027 elections. Another social media user, Tunde Alobe, linked the distribution to President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.
“This is another proof Tinubu’s reforms have made more Nigerians poorer that they can’t even afford basic food items and they have to rely on handouts,” he said.
A user identified as A.MB also criticised Fash-Lanso’s association with the ruling party. The user said the development showed the political stance of some entertainers.
Questions Over 2027 Political Mobilisation
Some social media users questioned whether the exercise was purely humanitarian. Others suggested that it could be linked to political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections. The APC has faced criticism over the rising cost of living and economic hardship.
Opposition figures and some members of the public have continued to raise concerns about the issue. The Federal Government, however, has defended its economic reforms. It has described the measures as necessary to stabilise the economy and support long-term growth.
Who Organised The Food Distribution?
While the video clearly shows APC-branded items being distributed, it does not establish who funded the exercise. It also does not confirm whether the APC officially organised the distribution. The incident has nevertheless renewed debate over the use of food as a form of political engagement in Nigeria. The debate comes as many Nigerian households struggle to afford basic necessities.
