2027: Adeleke Belongs To Us, We Belong To Tinubu – Wike

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has claimed that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is part of the political camp supporting President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike made the statement on Friday in Abuja while inspecting projects in the Federal Capital Territory. He said Adeleke’s recent meeting with Tinubu and other political figures was part of efforts to strengthen the “Rainbow Coalition” supporting the President.

Wike: Adeleke Is Still A PDP Member

Wike said Adeleke remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite his recent political moves. According to him, the crisis within the PDP forced Adeleke to seek another platform to secure his ticket for a second term as governor.

“When you say opposition, I have told you, I don’t know what you call opposition. I say there is no opposition now.

“Adeleke is only a member of the PDP, but because of the internal wrangling, and for him to be able to secure a ticket to run for a second term, he had to find a platform.

“And that platform happens to be a good party, but he is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.”

Wike said Adeleke’s meeting with Tinubu was focused on reviewing the coalition backing the President. He added that the alliance involves politicians from different political parties who support Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

“And what happened last night is a meeting to review the Rainbow Coalition and he is supporting Mr President. It is a different party. I am supporting Mr President. I am in a different party. So, it is a Rainbow Coalition.

“I told you that the 2027 election would be the easiest election.”

Wike Dismisses ADC Claims Over Adeleke

The FCT minister also dismissed claims by supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the party helped Adeleke win the Osun governorship election. Wike said the ADC supporters were trying to take credit for Adeleke’s political success.

“I am not, I am sorry, all those African Democratic Congress (ADC) people who are talking about, ‘Oh, they helped Adeleke to win,’ you have seen that they just wanted to harvest what they never planted.”

He insisted that Adeleke was now supporting Tinubu and said the meeting was meant to encourage those involved in the coalition.

“So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President and so we had to meet last night and encourage ourselves to continue. In the next few weeks, watch what is going to happen. You will see the Rainbow Coalition in this country supporting Mr President.”

Wike: Adeleke Belongs To Tinubu Camp

Wike said the political alliance would make the 2027 election easier for Tinubu. He claimed the election could effectively be decided before voting takes place because of the strength of the coalition.

“So, that was what happened last night. You will see more and that is why I said this election will be concluded before it starts. So, there is nothing anybody can do.

“Sorry, Adeleke belongs to us and we all belong to Mr President.”

Wike also dismissed concerns about how opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi would react to his political activities. He said his priority was to defeat his political opponents rather than worry about their feelings.

Wike: There Is No Formidable Opposition

Wike repeated his claim that Nigeria currently has no strong opposition party. He said the PDP should ordinarily be the country’s main opposition party. However, he argued that its internal crisis has weakened its ability to challenge the ruling party.

“Who is the opposition leader now? Obviously, it would have been PDP, but because of the crisis we have had, and so you can’t see a formidable party that you will call the leading opposition party.”

The minister said he was not concerned about the reaction of opposition politicians.

“So, I don’t care; whatever they feel is not my business. I don’t want them to feel well. It is not my wish that they should feel well. My business is to make them not to feel well all the day, because they will be having high blood pressure. I guess that is my job to make them have high blood pressure.”

Wike added that his aim in the political contest was to defeat his opponents.

“I am not here to make them do well. No, no, no. You see, when you are having a contest with somebody, your business is not to make him feel well. Your business is to make sure that you beat him thoroughly and he will be sick all through.

“And that is what we are doing to them. So, we have to be patient. It does not give me any headache. Everybody knows now how they feel. I will add more crisis for them. So, that’s my position.”

Wike Inspects IBB Golf Club

Earlier, Wike inspected the IBB International Golf Club, which is undergoing rehabilitation in Abuja. He said the rehabilitation work should be completed in November, with the facility expected to reopen in December. The minister also said the golf club would need to generate enough revenue to fund its operations after reopening. According to him, the facility should not depend on government funding to remain operational.
