The Allied People’s Movement (APM) says Nigerians are ready to vote President Bola Tinubu out in the 2027 presidential election.
The party made the claim after Tinubu returned from his holiday in France on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. APM’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Yusuf, said Nigerians showed little excitement over the President’s return. He claimed citizens remain focused on hunger, hardship and insecurity.
According to the party, only officials, party members and supporters welcomed Tinubu. APM also claimed videos showed some Nigerians booing the President in Lagos. The party described the reaction as a sign of growing dissatisfaction with his government.
“The refusal of regular Nigerians to welcome President Tinubu is a clear indication that the citizens no longer attach value to his presence,” Yusuf said.
He added that Nigerians were determined to vote him out in January 2027. APM also attacked Tinubu’s economic policies and foreign trips. The party accused the President of spending heavily on overseas trips while Nigerians face rising living costs.
Meanwhile, Seyi Makinde’s campaign organisation criticised Tinubu’s Independence Day address. Its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediwa, called the speech vague and lacking clear solutions. The campaign also blamed the petrol subsidy removal and naira flotation for worsening economic pressure.
The campaign claimed petrol prices rose from N187 to about N1,500 per litre. It also said the naira weakened from N460 to about N1,380 per dollar. APM’s presidential candidate, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, was presented as the alternative. The party said his proposed Makinde/Daura administration would offer Nigerians a new direction.
However, these claims reflect the positions of APM and Makinde’s campaign organisation ahead of the 2027 election.
