Jürgen Klopp secured his first victory as Germany manager as his side defeated Serbia in the Nations League in Munich.
The win came at the third attempt for Klopp, who had drawn with the Netherlands before suffering a defeat against Greece in his first two matches in charge. Klopp made significant changes to his lineup for the Serbia fixture as Germany continued to assess different combinations during the international window.
The former Liverpool manager had selected a 44-man squad for the four matches, with several players rotating into the team following the previous game. Germany started strongly, with Florian Wirtz hitting the post before Tom Bischof opened the scoring.
Bischof struck decisively to give the hosts the lead after Germany had threatened early in the match. Wirtz then doubled Germany’s advantage after producing an excellent first touch inside the penalty area to create space before finishing. The Liverpool midfielder was one of Germany’s standout performers as Klopp’s side controlled much of the contest.
The victory gives Klopp his first win since taking charge of the national team and provides Germany with a positive result after an uneven start to his tenure.
