NDC claims Peter Obi’s growing popularity threatens Soludo and APGA ahead of the 2027 elections in Anambra State.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has claimed that Peter Obi’s growing popularity worries the Anambra State Government. The party made the claim ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the NDC, political opponents now use fear and blackmail against Obi and the party. The reaction followed online posts from pro-government handles. Those posts urged Anambra residents to reject the NDC. They also described support for Obi as a betrayal of APGA.
Meanwhile, the online campaign accused Obi of trying to destroy the party that made him governor. However, NDC Director of New Media and Strategic Communications, Theo Abu Agada, rejected the claims. He said Governor Chukwuma Soludo and APGA leaders fear the opposition’s growing support.
“It is now clear, even to the blind, that the Anambra State Government is threatened by the growing popularity of our presidential candidate, H.E. Peter Obi, and the NDC in Anambra State and beyond,” Agada said.
He also predicted a major NDC victory in Anambra.
“The NDC is going to win big in Anambra, and there is nothing Soludo and his minions in APGA can do about it,” he added.
Agada further accused APGA of avoiding a direct challenge to Obi’s record. He claimed the party had instead turned to what he called “cheap blackmail.”
The claims have added fresh heat to the political battle ahead of 2027.
