FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said Peter Obi does not have enough support to win the 2027 presidential election. Wike urged the Labour Party figure to leave the race for President Bola Tinubu. He also advised Obi to prepare for the 2031 election instead.
Speaking during an interview on Journalist Hangout, Wike questioned Obi’s chances in several South-South states. He specifically mentioned Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Delta.
“In Cross River, how will Obi win? In Akwa Ibom, how will he win? In Delta, how will he win?” Wike asked.
The former Rivers State governor also dismissed claims that Obi still enjoys the support he had in the previous election. According to Wike, the political situation has changed.
“What people want to know now, Obi does not have it and he won’t have it,” he said.
He added that criticism would not change his position.Wike then urged Obi to focus on 2031 rather than the 2027 contest.
“For this election, leave it for Tinubu. Prepare for 2031,” he said.
The minister also said he remains open to discussing Nigeria’s political developments.
“I’m always available. Call me. I’ll always tell you the truth,” Wike added.
Wike’s comments have added another layer to the growing debate over the 2027 presidential race. However, the election is still ahead, and voters will ultimately decide the outcome.
