Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi-Nze has rejected the idea of sharing marital responsibilities based on fixed percentages.
Instead, the actor and producer said marriage works when both partners give their full commitment. She described the idea of 50:50 as limiting, insisting that “it’s 100, 100.”
The actress made the remarks in an interview clip shared by entertainment platform Yabaleft on its X page.
Marriage Is a Partnership, Not a Formula
Speaking on her marriage to actor Stan Nze, Obasi-Nze said the couple sees themselves as partners, not scorekeepers.
According to her, marriage should not feel like a transaction. She said once couples begin to calculate contributions, “it starts to look like office work.”
Rather than asking who brings what, she explained that both partners simply do what needs to be done.
As a result, the focus remains on growth, not comparison.
Accountability Over Constant Conversations
Obasi-Nze also highlighted accountability as a core value in her home.
She said her husband often handles responsibilities without lengthy discussions.
However, she added that he still communicates transparently. According to her, Stan Nze “will just do it and send the receipts,” because he takes accountability seriously.
In her view, that level of trust removes the need for constant explanations.
Financial Independence Builds Confidence
The actress stressed the importance of personal independence, especially for women.
She said every woman should be “a whole woman” with something meaningful to do.
Although she earns from acting and media work, she said her husband does not ask how much she makes. “He doesn’t ask me every month how much I earned,” she said.
Instead, she explained that financial privacy helps them avoid unnecessary pressure.
Rejecting Marriage as a Scorecard
Obasi-Nze warned that assigning percentages can drain joy from marriage.
She said the moment marriage turns into numbers, love begins to suffer.
By contrast, she described the 100:100 model as a shared commitment to thrive.
According to her, both partners bring their full selves into the union so the family can succeed together.
Career, Motherhood, and Shared Purpose
Blessing Obasi-Nze continues to build a steady Nollywood career as an actress and producer.
She also balances her professional life with motherhood, raising a young son with her husband.
Despite juggling multiple roles, she said partnership remains the foundation of their home.
Ultimately, the actress said marriage works best when both partners stop keeping score and focus on making things work—together.
