2027: Tinubu Poised for Convincing Victory — Matawalle

Dr. Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, affirmed his strong support for President Bola Tinubu. Matawalle appointed as minister of state for defence under Tinubu

He predicted a convincing win for the president in the 2027 election. Matawalle made this statement at his residence in Abuja on January 31, 2026. He urged Nigerians to back Tinubu’s reforms.

Matawalle’s Statement

Matawalle expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory. He said this during a press release from the Federal Ministry of Defence.

He stated, “President Tinubu has taken bold steps to stabilise the economy and strengthen national institutions. Those who are plotting to unseat him are motivated by personal interests, not the public good. If given the chance to complete his reform programme, I am confident the President will win convincingly in 2027.”

Additionally Matawalle condemned political maneuvers that aimed to undermine the administration. He described them as self-serving and harmful.

Reasons for Optimism

Matawalle highlighted Tinubu’s leadership. He noted that policies positioned Nigeria on a path of economic stabilisation. Moreover he pointed out improvements in institutional strengthening and national cohesion.

He emphasized progress in the northern region. Governance, security initiatives, and reforms showed positive impacts there.Furthermore, Matawalle warned against premature power struggles. He said they were distracted from governance.

Call for Unity

Matawalle appealed to political actors. He urged them to embrace constructive engagement.

He stressed that national interest came first. Personal ambition should not override it.In addition, he called on Nigerians to support government policies. These aimed at sustainable economic growth, better security, and stronger unity.

He added, “Let us focus on solutions that deliver for Nigerians jobs, security, and stronger institutions rather than on rancour and short-term political gains.”
