South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the Grammy Awards 2026, beating out Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr.

Tyla clinched the Grammy awards with her hit song Push 2 Start

Tyla clinched the award with her hit song Push 2 Start, surpassing Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You (featuring Omah Lay), Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, and Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s Hope and Love.

This category, created to spotlight African music on a global stage, once again featured a strong Nigerian presence, with three Nigerian artists—Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr—making the shortlist.

Notably, this marks Tyla’s second win in the category. She first claimed the Grammy in 2024 with her song Water, becoming the inaugural winner of the category.
