American model and reality TV star Kimora Lee Simmons is reportedly caught in a legal battle over a luxurious Beverly Hills mansion. The property was allegedly bought with embezzled funds by her estranged husband, Tim Leissner.

Court documents reveal that the seven-bedroom estate in Beverly Hills was purchased in 2017. Using money stolen from Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, 1MDB, according to the Daily Mail. The mansion, which spans 3.7 acres, was later sold to billionaire real estate developers. However, Simmons has reportedly continued living there rent-free since November 2020.
Adding to the intrigue, Kimora Lee Simmons is said to have filmed her reality TV series inside the lavish home. Which reportedly contains hundreds of designer handbags.
Leissner, a former banker, recently began serving a two-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to conspiracy. And money laundering charges related to the 1MDB scandal.
A court hearing to decide the ownership and possession of the disputed mansion is set for later this month.
The case has sparked debate online, with opinions split on whether the issue is purely legal or tied to the moral implications of the scandal surrounding the home’s purchase.
