Veteran Nollywood Star Bimbo Akintola, Explains “Her Single Status at 52”

Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has opened up about her reasons for remaining unmarried at the age of 52, offering heartfelt insights into her views on love, commitment, and personal fulfillment.

In a recent interview, the award-winning actress emphasized that she is not in a hurry to walk down the aisle simply for the sake of societal expectations. Instead, she believes in waiting for the right person — a life partner she can genuinely commit to in every sense of the word.

Where is Bimbo Akintola from?

Akintola, whose heritage traces back to Edo State through her mother and Oyo State through her father, described marriage as a deeply spiritual and sacred union. “To me, marriage is a covenant — one that must be entered into sincerely, in the presence of God and surrounded by the people who love and support you,” she explained.

Reflecting on her personal experiences, the celebrated actress revealed that she once believed she had found the person she was destined to spend her life with. Sadly, that relationship ended in tragedy due to the untimely death of her partner, a loss that has continued to shape her perspective on love and companionship.

“I have never had children, which is unfortunate,” Akintola said candidly. “Yes, marriage holds meaning for me — but it has to be real, not forced. It’s not something you do for the sake of appearances or to please others. It’s a lifetime commitment made in the house of God, witnessed by those who genuinely care for you.”

Bimbo Akintola explains value of true companionship

She went on to explain that while she remains open to marriage, she refuses to compromise on authenticity. “I want to live a life rooted in truth — both to myself and to God. I cannot pretend. I would rather remain single than enter a union where I have to live a lie,” she said.

Akintola also spoke about the reality of aging and the value of companionship in later years. “While marriage does not define a woman’s worth, it becomes increasingly important as you grow older,” she noted. “When your children have grown and moved on with their lives, there’s something very real called loneliness. And during those quiet years, having a true companion by your side becomes incredibly meaningful.”

No expiration on love — Bimbo Akintola

She concluded by affirming her belief that love has no expiration date. “If I find that one person — someone I believe I can spend forever with — I will marry, even if I’m 78. Why not? Love and companionship are not limited by age.”

Through her words, Bimbo Akintola offered a powerful reminder that relationships should be built on honesty, emotional connection, and mutual respect — not pressure or societal timelines.
