President Bola Tinubu has nominated Taiwo Oyedele as minister of state for finance.

The president forwarded Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate on Tuesday in a letter addressed to the president of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, seeking confirmation.

Oyedele will replace Doris Uzoka-Anite, who now moves to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as minister of state. The reassignment marks her third portfolio under the Tinubu administration.

Until now, Oyedele chaired the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he spearheaded major changes to Nigeria’s tax system as part of the government’s broader fiscal reform drive.

The nominee earned a higher national diploma in accountancy and finance from Yaba College of Technology. He later obtained a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

In addition, he completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He built most of his professional career at PwC, where he worked for 22 years. After joining the firm in 2001, he rose to become fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader.
