ICPC (The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission), arraigned a visa agent, Adediwura Stanley, before the Lagos State High Court on charges of alleged document forgery. Stanley stood accused of fabricating financial documents to secure a United Kingdom visa for a client.
Prosecutors from the ICPC presented the case before the court earlier today. Stanley allegedly created false bank statements and other financial records to misrepresent his client’s economic standing. Furthermore, the commission stated that these forged documents were submitted as part of a visa application to British authorities.
As reported by ALO360, the ICPC spokesperson addressed the media following the proceedings. “The defendant knowingly and fraudulently forged financial documents with the intent to deceive visa processing officers,” the spokesperson said. Additionally, the commission emphasized that such acts undermine both national integrity and international diplomatic relations.
The court heard initial arguments from both the prosecution and defense teams. Consequently, the judge adjourned the case to allow for further investigation and preparation of evidence. Stanley pleaded not guilty to the charges. Moreover, the defense counsel requested bail, which the court considered pending review of the defendant’s flight risk.
