Michigan Girl Killed in Truck Accident During ‘Racing’ Game

A tragic incident in Michigan has left a young child dead.

A three-year-old girl was killed in a Michigan truck accident after being struck by a pickup vehicle driven by her mother’s fiancé, according to authorities.

The incident happened on Friday evening in Cedar Springs, near Detroit. Police said the driver, 33-year-old Daniel Bryant, told investigators he asked the child to run alongside the truck in a “racing” game.

He was reportedly driving at about 10 mph when the situation turned fatal. He said he only realized something was wrong after the child’s sibling shouted for him to stop.

Deputies arriving at the scene found the girl trapped under the vehicle. Authorities also reported a strong smell of alcohol on the driver, who admitted to heavy daily drinking.

He has since been arrested and charged with reckless driving causing death.

The child’s mother was not home at the time and received the news while at work.

The suspect appeared in court, where his bond was set at $500,000. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

The Michigan truck accident has raised renewed concerns about child safety around moving vehicles and the dangers of negligent supervision.
