Lawmakers, Officials Donate Millions After Woman Gives Birth to Twins at Kebbi Event

A wave of donations followed an unexpected childbirth at a public event in Kebbi State, where a woman gave birth to twins during a large gathering of women.

The incident occurred at Haliru Audu Stadium, where the woman had attended in search of support before suddenly going into labour. She delivered a set of male twins amid the crowd and was later evacuated alongside her newborns to a hospital for further medical care.

In response, a member of the House of Representatives representing Suru/Bagudo Federal Constituency, Bello Dallatun Ka’oje, donated ₦5 million to assist the nursing mother with healthcare expenses and the upcoming naming ceremony, acting on behalf of the state government.

Donations Pour In

Additional contributions came from key stakeholders, including Faruk Enabo, Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency. He donated one million wrappers to be distributed among women in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

Enabo also announced a ₦30 million donation to women’s groups on behalf of himself and his associates, alongside the presentation of a vehicle to the organisation’s leadership.

Speaking at the event, he praised the role of women in society, noting their importance in both politics and business. He emphasized continued efforts to improve their welfare in line with the vision of Nasir Idris.

Strong Support for Women’s Groups

Overall, more than ₦200 million was raised during the gathering to support women’s associations across the state. The contributions highlight growing efforts by political leaders and stakeholders to empower women and strengthen community support systems.

The unusual childbirth incident added a dramatic moment to the event, drawing attention to both the immediate needs of the mother and broader initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women in Kebbi State.
