Russia sets record drone and missile attacks on Ukraine in April

Russia launched its most intense wave of drone and missile strikes on Ukraine since the war began.

Ukraine said Russia fired at least 6,804 long-range drones and missiles in April, the highest monthly total of the war so far.

Ukraine’s air force reported facing 6,663 drones and 141 missiles, with about 88% of drones and over 62% of missiles intercepted or disrupted by air defenses.

The data shows an average of more than 220 drones and four missiles launched nightly, highlighting a sharp escalation in aerial attacks.

The deadliest strike came on April 15, when more than 700 munitions were launched in a single night, killing at least 19 people.

The surge in attacks comes despite stalled peace talks and a brief Easter truce that temporarily halted strikes.

Civilian casualties continue to rise, with the United Nations reporting a sharp increase in deaths and injuries in recent months.

As the war enters its fifth year, both sides continue to rely heavily on drone and missile warfare, raising fears of further escalation beyond Ukraine’s borders.
