Adeboye: Oluremi Tinubu underwent proper pastoral training, public pressure won’t make RCCG remove her

Enoch Adeboye

Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has said the church will not remove Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, from her position as an ordained pastor.

Speaking during the monthly Holy Ghost Service on Friday, Adeboye said Oluremi Tinubu underwent the full pastoral training and met all requirements before her ordination.

He said she was ordained as an assistant pastor over a decade ago, long before President Bola Tinubu indicated interest in contesting for office.

Adeboye said the first lady has not breached any of the church’s guidelines.

He added that the RCCG will not bow to public pressure calling for her removal.

The cleric also said the church is not aligned with any political party.

He said RCCG members cut across different political platforms, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Labour Party (LP).

Adeboye said while the church welcomes everyone, it does not allow politicians to use its altar for campaigns.

On the 2027 presidential election, he said the next leader of Nigeria has already been ordained by God.

He also addressed insecurity affecting Christians in northern Nigeria.

Adeboye said the church has continued to provide support through internally displaced persons camps and welfare initiatives.

He rejected claims that RCCG has remained silent on the issue.
