Iran considers US peace proposal as Trump predicts quick end to war

Tehran is reviewing a US-backed proposal that could end the Iran conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran says it is still considering a proposal from the United States aimed at ending the ongoing conflict and restarting broader diplomatic talks. The development comes as Donald Trump predicted the war would be “over quickly” if both sides reach an agreement.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed that Tehran received the proposal through Pakistani mediators and is reviewing its contents before issuing a formal response.

According to reports, the proposed framework includes limits on Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for global shipping traffic. The White House reportedly believes a 14-point memorandum could create a path toward a longer-term peace agreement.

However, some Iranian officials remain skeptical. Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei described the proposal as unrealistic and warned that Iran was prepared to respond strongly if negotiations collapsed.

The conflict has disrupted oil shipments and increased tensions across the Middle East in recent weeks. The Strait of Hormuz, which handles a major share of global oil exports, remains a key issue in the negotiations.

Diplomatic talks are continuing as international pressure grows for both sides to avoid further escalation.
