Iran has officially responded to US proposals aimed at ending the war and easing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran says it has submitted its official response to a United States peace proposal designed to end the ongoing conflict in the Gulf region and restart negotiations over its nuclear programme.
According to Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan received Iran’s response but has not disclosed its contents. The United States has also not publicly released details of its proposal.
Reports suggest the US proposal contains a 14-point framework focused on ending hostilities, lifting sanctions on Iran, restoring maritime security, and limiting Iranian nuclear enrichment activities. Iranian state media said Tehran’s reply mainly addresses ending the war and securing shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran would not “bow to pressure” despite discussions around diplomacy and negotiations. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said he believes the war could end soon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained that Iran’s nuclear facilities must still be dismantled.
The conflict has disrupted oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy trade routes. Several countries in the Gulf region have also reported drone and missile incidents linked to the crisis.
Global attention is now focused on whether Iran and the United States can turn the fragile ceasefire into a lasting peace agreement.
