President Begins Second Leg of Three-Nation Tour
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Nairobi ahead of the Africa-France Summit scheduled to begin later on Monday.
The presidential aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport around 12:15 a.m. local time on Monday.
The State House media office confirmed the President’s arrival in a statement released early Monday.
Summit Focuses on Innovation, Climate, Investment
Tinubu’s trip to Kenya marks his second visit to the country since July 2023.
The visit also forms the second phase of his three-nation diplomatic tour, which began in France.
During his stay in France, Tinubu met with international investors and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to economic reforms and fiscal discipline.
The Africa-France Summit will run from May 11 to May 12. French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto are jointly hosting the event.
This year’s summit carries the theme, “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth.”
Discussions at the summit will focus on energy transition, digital transformation, climate action, green industrialisation, and reforms in global financing systems.
Tinubu to Hold Bilateral Meetings
According to the Presidency, Tinubu’s participation highlights Nigeria’s commitment to stronger partnerships with African countries and France.
The President is expected to deliver a speech outlining his administration’s economic reforms and investment agenda.
In addition, he will meet with African and international business leaders during bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the summit.
President Heads to Rwanda Next
After the Kenya visit, Tinubu will travel to Kigali for the annual Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria after the Rwanda leg of the tour.
His return will come ahead of the All Progressives Congress presidential primary slated for May 23.
