Mr 7Keys Urges Young Creatives to Master Digital Marketing

Sound engineer and music producer Mr 7Keys has advised young creatives to focus on digital marketing during the early stages of their careers.

Speaking in an interview with Sunday Scoop, the content creator said strong marketing skills help creators turn ordinary experiences into engaging content that attracts audiences.

“If you learn digital marketing, you can make the mundane look spectacular, and that’s what the best content creators do,” he said.

Discipline shapes creative success

Mr 7Keys also highlighted discipline and authenticity as major qualities needed in Nigeria’s growing creative industry.

He explained that his background in martial arts influenced his work ethic and creative mindset.

“One of the philosophies I learned through kickboxing is that how you do anything is how you do everything,” he said.

According to him, focusing on difficult tasks improves long-term performance and consistency.

“I applied that to my creativity by focusing more on the difficult parts so they can get easier over time,” he added.

Nigerian culture runs deep in entertainment

The producer argued that many international audiences misunderstand Nigerian creativity and culture.

He said Nigerian music, fashion, literature and films carry strong cultural identity that outsiders often overlook.

“There’s so much culture ingrained into every art form we produce, but a lot of people outside only think about owambe and Detty December,” he said.

Authenticity remains key in creator economy

Mr 7Keys also spoke about the rapid growth of the creator economy through platforms like TikTok and YouTube.

He stressed that authenticity separates successful creators from those who disappear after a viral moment.

“You have to focus on what you can do consistently. Everything has to be organic because if people see it’s fake, you’re not going to last long,” he said.

Producer highlights power supply challenge

Mr 7Keys identified poor electricity supply as one of the biggest problems facing Nigerian creatives and businesses.

He said constant power outages force creators to spend heavily on fuel and generators during productions.

“I’ve been on sets where generators run throughout production because you can’t allow lights to go off during shooting. Nigerians deserve better,” he stated.
