CIS, ABUAD begin 2026 finance conference
The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, in partnership with Afe Babalola University, has launched the 2026 Annual International Conference on Finance, Securities and Investment.
The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between capital market stakeholders and academic institutions.
As part of this effort, the conference will create a platform for policy discussions and practical solutions in Africa’s financial sector.
The event will hold physically at ABUAD in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
In addition, it supports the institute’s Federal Government mandate to improve financial literacy and expand public awareness of investment opportunities in Nigeria’s capital market.
Conference to attract experts across Africa
The hybrid conference begins with a virtual pre-conference workshop on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
After that, stakeholders from across Africa and beyond will gather for the main sessions.
Participants will include regulators, market operators, policymakers, academics, and investors.
Together, they will examine practical strategies to strengthen African capital markets amid changing global financial conditions.
As financial systems continue to evolve, experts believe stronger collaboration remains critical.
Therefore, the conference seeks to bridge the gap between policy, research, and market practice.
Organisers target stronger and sustainable markets
Chairman of the Institute’s Research Committee, Dr. Ayodeji Ebo, said the conference was created to address major issues shaping the future of finance and investment in Africa.
According to him, the gathering will encourage constructive engagement among key stakeholders.
He explained that African capital markets must become more resilient, innovative, inclusive, and sustainable.
As a result, the event will focus on solutions that can strengthen investor confidence and unlock long-term growth.
Furthermore, organisers believe collaboration between regulators, operators, academics, and investors can improve market performance across the continent.
Sustainable finance takes centre stage
The conference carries the theme, Capital Markets, Sustainable Finance and Economic Transformation in Africa.
Because climate and economic risks continue to grow, organisers will also focus on sustainable and green finance.
In particular, discussions will examine how transparent and efficient financial markets can support inclusive development.
Likewise, participants will explore ways to address climate-related risks and infrastructure funding challenges in emerging economies.
In addition, the conference will assess how environmental, social, and governance principles can fit better into Africa’s financial architecture.
Ultimately, organisers expect the event to support stronger capital markets and drive economic transformation across the continent.
