The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended the collation of its presidential primary election results to allow Muslim members to celebrate Eid al-Kabir.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ikechi Emenike announced the postponement late Tuesday.

Emenike said the remaining collation process would resume by 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters to celebrate Sallah and participate in the religious activity,” he said.

He added that some returning officers were yet to arrive Abuja due to flight challenges.

“This will also enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive Abuja later today,” he said.

Before the postponement, results from 24 states and the FCT had already been announced by state returning officers.

The remaining states yet to be fully collated include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa, Kogi, Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara.
