Cubana Chiefpriest: My support for Tinubu is unshakeable

Cubana Chiefpriest

Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, says his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains “unshakeable” despite criticism from social media users.

Chiefpriest recently lost his bid to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives ticket for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency.

After the primary election, the celebrity barman said he had no regrets contesting for the ticket.

Speaking in an interview with Beat FM, Chiefpriest said some Nigerians were uncomfortable with his support for Tinubu.

“There’s a lot of reactions from social media, especially from people who don’t feel comfortable seeing me support the present government of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.

He revealed that he previously supported Peter Obi during the 2023 election.

“I was promoting Peter Obi for the last election,” he said.

BEING ON THE TABLE WILL HELP ME CONTRIBUTE MEANINGFULLY

Chiefpriest said he believes he can contribute more by working with those in government.

“I could actually do better if I am on the table where these decisions are being made,” he said.

The socialite added that even without winning the APC ticket, he can still support development efforts in his constituency.

“I can support the guy who is there by sending my people around to show him schools that are not active, medical centres that need to work, roads that are bad, and villages without pipe-borne water,” he said.

Chiefpriest said his support for Tinubu is based on what he described as the achievements of the APC in his state.

“My support for the president is something that is not shakable because I had to take a proper look at the achievements of APC in my own state,” he said.

He also said Nigerians should support leaders based on competence rather than ethnicity.

“I must support a Yoruba man, an Igbo man, and a Hausa man. As a Nigerian,” he said.

The celebrity barman added that many Yoruba people contributed to his success story.

“One of the best people who have come around my corner and brightened my life are Yoruba people,” he said.

“I’m a boy who rose to success from apprenticeship.”
