The anti-drug agency also recorded major drug busts and arrests in Kaduna, Niger and Enugu states.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted consignments of illicit drugs concealed inside water purifier machines imported from the Netherlands. Operatives discovered 3kg of ketamine and 199g of MDMA during an operation at a courier facility in Lagos on May 26.
Separate operations saw the agency recover 1,246kg of skunk from a residence in Kaduna State and arrested three suspects. In Niger State, officers seized 457kg of skunk from a warehouse and arrested a suspect linked to the drugs. In Enugu State, NDLEA operatives intercepted a vehicle carrying 22,000 tramadol pills, 100 ampoules of pentazocine and 200g of bromazepam, leading to another arrest.
Elsewhere, the agency also intercepted a suspect transporting 380 rounds of 7.62mm military-grade ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna highway. The suspect and exhibits were transferred to the relevant security agency for further investigation.
The operations come as NDLEA continues its nationwide War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, combining enforcement actions with public awareness programmes in schools and communities across the country.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), has commended officers for the successful operations and urged them to sustain the crackdown on drug trafficking networks nationwide.
