A Federal High Court has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth about ₦8.9 billion linked to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo, Abuja, ruled that the Aisha Achimugu assets forfeiture should be transferred to the Federal Government. Justice Jude Onwugbuzie delivered the judgment after granting an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The forfeited assets include jewellery valued at ₦4.65 billion, 11 luxury vehicles worth ₦4.29 billion, $50,000, and ₦30 million in cash.
EFCC says assets were linked to unlawful activities
The EFCC told the court that the assets were proceeds of unlawful activities. The anti-graft agency asked the court to make the earlier interim forfeiture permanent.
Justice Onwugbuzie agreed with the EFCC’s application. He ordered the permanent forfeiture of the jewellery, vehicles and cash to the Federal Government.
The case marks another major court victory for the EFCC in its campaign against alleged financial crimes.
