Iran suspends talks, Tasnim says

Iran has halted diplomatic talks and announced measures to block the Strait of Hormuz as regional tensions continue to rise.

Iran has suspended ongoing dialogue and exchanges through mediators in response to Israel’s military operations in Lebanon, according to reports by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. The report also claimed that Tehran is moving to block the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

The development comes as the United States said it intercepted two Iranian missiles targeting American forces in Kuwait. US officials also confirmed efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, proposing a halt to attacks by both sides to create conditions for de-escalation.

The Strait of Hormuz handles a significant share of global oil and gas shipments, making any disruption a major concern for international energy markets. Meanwhile, fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group continues despite diplomatic efforts.

With talks suspended and tensions escalating across the region, concerns are growing over the risk of a wider Middle East conflict.
