Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s first lady, has announced the donation of vehicles to women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in states not controlled by the ruling party.
Speaking while hosting the “Tinubu Torchbearers”, a women’s support group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, the first lady said the beneficiaries would receive the vehicles before the end of the week.
The states listed include Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun and Oyo.
“I have news for the states where we don’t have the presence of APC, but we have members of APC,” she said.
“So to all our women leaders for Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun, and Oyo State, your vehicles will be ready before the end of the week.”
Oluremi said the vehicles were personal gifts to the beneficiaries and not party property.
“The vehicles are your personal vehicles; you are not giving them to the party,” she said.
“You register the vehicles in your name.”
The first lady also called on APC governors across the country to support women leaders within the party by providing them with vehicles and other forms of empowerment.
“Our beloved state governors, the APC governors, buy your women leaders vehicles,” she said.
According to her, women politicians deserve greater recognition and support for their contributions to the party.
“We are not playing politics like before. We are politicians and people should see the value on us,” she said.
“So this is a blessed party and we want our women to be empowered.”
