Bill Gates calls meetings with Jeffrey Epstein a ‘grave error in judgment’

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates defended his actions while testifying before a US congressional panel investigating Jeffrey Epstein.

Bill Gates told the US House Oversight Committee that meeting convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was a “grave error in judgment” and insisted he had never engaged in criminal conduct.

In a closed-door interview on Wednesday, Gates said: “I never witnessed nor had any indication that Epstein was engaged in ongoing criminal conduct. I never went to his island, his ranch, or his Florida home. I have never victimized anyone.”

Gates explained that his interactions with Epstein were primarily focused on attracting wealthy donors to support global health initiatives. He acknowledged being aware that Epstein had faced legal issues but said he “did not fully understand the extent of the crimes he committed.”

The billionaire also revealed that Epstein obtained sensitive information about his personal life, including details of his extramarital affairs.

Gates said: “These affairs had nothing to do with my interactions with Epstein, but they were painful for my family.”

He added that Epstein later tried to use that information to pressure him into reconnecting, but the effort was unsuccessful.

The testimony comes as the House Oversight Committee expands its investigation into the government’s handling of Epstein-related cases and interviews individuals linked to the late financier.

Bill Gates said he hopes his testimony will help the committee’s efforts to uncover the truth and deliver justice for victims of Epstein.
