Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna moved mourners to tears as he paid an emotional tribute to his close friend, the late Alexx Ekubo, during a Service of Songs held in Lagos.
The memorial event took place on Wednesday, June 10, weeks after Ekubo’s passing shocked the Nigerian film industry. Family members, friends, and colleagues gathered to celebrate the actor’s life and legacy.
IK Recalls Final Conversation With Alexx Ekubo
During his tribute, IK Ogbonna reflected on one of his final conversations with Ekubo.
According to him, the late actor reassured him of his unwavering support despite life’s challenges.
“Even in our last conversation, you still told me to always remember that I am here for you, even if no one else is,” IK said.
His heartfelt words left many attendees emotional as they remembered the bond the two actors shared.

Furthermore, IK admitted that he still struggles to accept his friend’s death.
He revealed that he often finds himself reaching for his phone to call Ekubo, hoping for one more conversation.
The actor said he sometimes wishes the call would somehow connect, even though he knows that is no longer possible.
According to him, the pain of losing Ekubo continues to remind him of life’s fragile nature.
Alexx Ekubo Encouraged Him to Grow Spiritually
In addition, IK disclosed that the late actor constantly encouraged him to strengthen his relationship with God.
Although they had disagreements over the years, he noted that their friendship was filled with far more joyful moments than difficult ones.
He described Ekubo as a loyal friend whose presence brought comfort, encouragement, and genuine support.
