UN report accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza

A new UN report alleges that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinian children in Gaza, a claim Israel has strongly denied.

A United Nations commission of inquiry has accused Israel of committing genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity against Palestinian children in Gaza.

According to the report, Israeli military actions have caused widespread deaths, injuries, trauma, starvation, and the breakdown of healthcare and education systems affecting children across the territory. The commission said there were reasonable grounds to conclude that these actions form part of a deliberate strategy targeting Palestinian children in Gaza.

The report also alleged that attacks on hospitals, schools, displacement camps, and humanitarian infrastructure have worsened conditions for children. It further claimed that Palestinian children in Gaza and the occupied West Bank have faced arrests, abuse, and violence.

Israel rejected the findings, describing the report as a “libellous sham” and accusing the commission of ignoring crimes committed by Hamas. Israeli authorities maintain that military operations in Gaza are aimed at defeating Hamas and securing the release of hostages.

The UN report is expected to increase international scrutiny of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza and its impact on Palestinian children.
