“Don’t blame Peller”—Daddy Freeze reacts to ‘Olodo Uprising’ Debate

“Don’t blame Peller,” Daddy Freeze defends Peller, says Nigeria’s weak education rewards contributes to the “Olodo Uprising” debate.

The debate around “Peller culture” has sparked fresh conversation online, with rapper Ycee recently calling out what he described as an “Olodo Uprising” in Nigeria. He argued that society now rewards viral fame more than education and intellectual effort, a claim that quickly divided opinions across social media platforms.

Media personality Daddy Freeze has now reacted to the controversy, taking a different stance on the issue. According to him, Peller should not be blamed for the growing trend.

He insisted that the content creator only took advantage of an already broken system that undervalues education and academic excellence in the country.

“Yes, we have an Olodo culture in Nigeria. But I find it unfair to put the blame on Peller, who is an intelligent young man that took advantage of a broken system. He didn’t break the system,” he said. His comment has since triggered further debate, especially among young Nigerians who are active in the digital space.

Daddy Freeze also questioned Nigeria’s reward structure, arguing that education no longer guarantees a stable middle-class life.

He cited an example of a professor of paediatric cardiology who, according to him, earns less than ₦700,000 monthly despite years of training and expertise.

He then compared this with entertainment rewards like the ₦100 million Big Brother Naija prize, suggesting that the imbalance shapes young people’s ambitions.

“Education or Big Brother—what will you aim for?” he asked, highlighting what he sees as a national priority problem rather than an individual fault. The discussion has continued to gain traction online, with Nigerians split between blaming influencers and blaming the system itself.
