Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially joined the United States Army after completing Basic Combat Training. He trained at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for 10 weeks.
The actor now serves as Specialist SPC J.A. Momodu with Charlie Company, 3-10 Infantry Regiment. He announced the milestone on Instagram with strong emotions and pride.
Momodu described the training as intense and life-changing. He faced extreme physical and mental pressure during the programme. According to him, “Ten weeks of being incommunicado. Ten weeks of learning to find comfort in discomfort.”
He also added, “This particular one was forged through tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain, and the scorching sun.”
The actor admitted he had moments of doubt during training. Still, he refused to quit and stayed focused on graduation. He said, “There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, ‘who sent me message sef?’ But I never lost sight of the finish line.”
Momodu explained that he went from civilian life to soldier life within weeks. He described it simply as, “I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier.”
Beyond the training, the achievement carries deep emotional meaning for him. Momodu dedicated his success to his late father, who served in the Nigerian Police Force. He said he honoured him 20 years after his passing.
He also revealed he passed the ASVAB exam on his first attempt. Support came from the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank and his family in Edo State. He appreciated everyone who supported his journey from start to finish.
