‘There is no force on earth that can stop this revolution’ —Sowore says as court grants him N200m bail

Omoyele Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), says no force can stop what he described as a revolution in Nigeria.

Sowore spoke to supporters in Abuja on Tuesday after the Federal High Court granted him bail in the sum of N200 million.

Earlier, Justice Mohammed Umar had ordered the activist’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his application challenging the revocation of his bail.

‘No force can stop this revolution’

Sowore said recent developments in his case showed that “common sense” was beginning to prevail.

He insisted that the struggle for change would continue.

“There is no force on earth that can stop this revolution,” he said.

“We have warned them, but they will not listen. But now, it appears a little bit of common sense is returning to them.”

Court grants fresh bail

Furthermore, Sowore said the court granted him fresh bail with strict conditions.

According to him, he must provide a traditional ruler and a property owner in Abuja as sureties.

“I was granted a fresh bail,” he said.

“It requires a traditional ruler and somebody with property in Abuja.”

“And N200 million, and my international passport.”

‘We’ll cross that bridge’

Meanwhile, Sowore said he was not worried about meeting the bail conditions.

“They have always been after the passport,” he said.

“But nobody can come after us.”

“When we get to that bridge, we will cross it.”
