Operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) have arrested former Minister of Science and Technology Uche Nnaji over allegations of certificate forgery.
Nnaji was reportedly arrested on Wednesday at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu while preparing to board a private jet to Abuja.
Security sources said the arrest was carried out at the request of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). He was later handed over to the anti-corruption agency for further investigation.
According to the sources, the ICPC had previously invited the former minister several times following petitions linked to both the certificate forgery allegations and his management of the ministry. The commission reportedly sought the DSS’s assistance after those invitations.
The ICPC has not yet issued an official statement on the arrest, while Nnaji has not publicly responded to the allegations.
