Triple Murder Suspect Appears in Court in South Africa Over UK Extradition Request

A man accused of murdering his wife and two daughters in the UK has appeared before a court in South Africa.

Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, 45, appeared before a magistrates’ court in Johannesburg after his arrest on Friday. UK prosecutors have charged him with three counts of murder and are seeking his extradition.

His wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, and their daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, five, were found dead at their home in Great Denham, Bedfordshire, on 6 July.

During the hearing, Tshuma confirmed his identity and chose to speak in English. The court scheduled the next hearing for 22 July. South African authorities said they have received a provisional extradition request through Interpol and expect a full request, including evidence, within 40 days.

Police also said Tshuma travelled from London to South Africa via Dubai. He briefly visited Zimbabwe before returning to Johannesburg, where he was arrested. He also faces a separate charge of illegal firearm possession in South Africa.

Family members of the victims described the deaths as a “tragic and senseless loss of life.” Investigations in both countries are continuing.
