Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Sarah Martins has stirred fresh debate online after opening up about her views on tithing.
Instead of giving money to pastors, she said she prefers to support struggling people on the streets. Her comments have divided social media users, with many praising her generosity while others defended traditional tithing.
According to the actress, helping people in need is her own way of paying tithe. She believes the money should go directly to those who need it most.
“I don’t pay tithe to pastors. I pay to struggling people on the street by feeding them. Instead of enriching rich pastors, I’ll rather use my money to empower people that don’t know where their help comes from,” she said.
She also added,
“To the streets, I am the God they see. As God is blessing me, I’m transferring the blessing on them as well so that it will go round.”
Martins revealed that she has cooked for as many as 1,000 people at once using her personal funds.
Meanwhile, the actress also shared how crossdresser Bobrisky helped her business. She claimed his support brought massive sales within one day.
“Bobrisky made ₦15 million for my business in just one day,” she said.
Martins also disclosed that the highest amount she has earned in one month is ₦40 million. However, she admitted spending ₦15 million on a movie that failed to recover its production cost.
Despite the financial risks, Sarah Martins said giving remains her biggest priority. She believes kindness should not depend on getting anything in return.
“There is no love that is greater than giving to somebody you know will never be able to pay you back,” she said.
As expected, her comments have continued to spark conversations about charity, tithing, and the role of churches in helping the less privileged.
