Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working with the Yobe State Hunters Group, have arrested five suspected kidnappers during an intelligence-led operation in Jegalari Village, Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The operation took place on 23 July 2026, according to the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Mohammed Goni.
Goni said troops from the 233 Battalion, based at the Damaturu Military Cantonment, acted on credible intelligence about the activities of the suspects.
During the raid, security personnel recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, and assorted ammunition. Also recovered was four mobile phones believed to be connected to the suspects’ operations.
The arrested suspects are currently in military custody. Authorities said they are being questioned to determine their involvement in kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to tackling terrorism and other security threats across the North-East through sustained intelligence-driven operations.
The military also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies.
It encouraged residents to report suspicious individuals, movements, or activities. Furthermore it stressed that timely and credible information from citizens remains vital to improving security.
