The Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services has said there is no confirmed outbreak of Mpox in the state.
Health Commissioner Dr. Yanmar Ortese said investigations into suspected cases are still ongoing. He urged residents to remain calm while health officials await laboratory results.
The ministry advised anyone experiencing fever accompanied by unexplained rashes, blisters or similar symptoms to seek immediate medical attention at the nearest health facility.
According to the commissioner, early reporting of symptoms is essential for proper diagnosis and treatment. He also stressed that prompt medical care would help prevent the possible spread of infectious diseases.
The ministry assured residents that it would continue to provide updates as soon as laboratory findings become available.
Officials explained that if the test results confirm Mpox or any other disease of public health concern, appropriate response measures will be activated immediately in line with national health guidelines.
The commissioner reaffirmed the state’s commitment to protecting public health through continuous surveillance and rapid response to suspected disease outbreaks.
He encouraged residents to rely on verified information from health authorities and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports that could cause unnecessary panic within communities.
