The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) says the appointment letter presented by the council’s self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, is fake.
The committee also said Adeyemi submitted a forged law to support the council’s operations.
Gagdi cites Head of Service’s findings
Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi made the disclosure on Wednesday during the ongoing investigative hearing in Abuja. He said the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, confirmed that Adeyemi’s documents lacked authenticity.
“It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies, and the Act presented to the Head of Service was equally fake, forged by the DG.”
Committee hears more evidence
Walson-Jack appeared before the lawmakers for a second time after complying with the committee’s summons. Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi also attended the hearing.
The two officers represented the Inspector-General of Police. However, Adeyemi did not appear before the committee.
Lawmakers await Adeyemi
Earlier this week, the committee directed the Inspector-General of Police to produce Adeyemi within 48 hours. Lawmakers said the alleged creation and operation of the PFIPC raised serious concerns. The committee will continue its investigation as it seeks more information about the council and the documents linked to it.
