CXMT Founder Pledges $5.6 Billion to Employees After Record IPO

Zhu Promises Workers $5.6 Billion in Bonuses

Chinese memory chip giant CXMT has made history after its blockbuster stock market debut. The company’s shares jumped between 466% and 530% on the Shanghai STAR Market. That stunning rise pushed founder Zhu Yiming’s wealth to $13.9 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. However, the biggest surprise came after the listing. Zhu promised to give $5.6 billion to workers as bonuses. The amount equals about 40% of his personal stake in the company. The goal is simple. He wants to keep top engineers and experts as CXMT expands its advanced chip business.

CXTM Milestones At A Glance

The company also achieved another major milestone. Its IPO raised as much as $9.8 billion. That made it Asia’s biggest IPO of 2026. It also became China’s largest semiconductor listing ever. Investors rushed to buy the stock because demand for AI chips keeps rising. As a result, CXMT briefly became mainland China’s most valuable publicly traded company. Bloomberg reported that Zhu has now joined a growing list of billionaires benefiting from the global AI race.

Meanwhile, CXMT is becoming one of China’s most important technology companies. The chipmaker is now the world’s fourth-largest producer of DRAM memory chips. These chips power smartphones, AI servers, and data centres. They are also essential for training artificial intelligence models. Because of ongoing U.S. export restrictions, Beijing sees CXMT as a key player in building China’s semiconductor independence. In addition, major technology companies like Tencent, Alibaba, and ByteDance already rely on CXMT for memory chips.

What Market Analysts Think

Despite the excitement, some analysts believe the stock’s massive rise may be too fast. Others argue the strong demand is justified because the global memory chip shortage could continue for years. The shortage has already boosted profits for chipmakers worldwide and pushed up prices for products like cars and smartphones.

For now, Zhu Yiming’s decision to reward employees has added another remarkable chapter to CXMT’s record-breaking success. It also shows how valuable skilled workers have become in the global race for AI dominance.
