Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will lose the 2027 presidential election. The cleric also claimed that sharing rice or money with voters would not guarantee victory at the polls.
Cleric backs Onaiyekan
Speaking during a church service in Lagos, Primate Ayodele supported recent remarks by the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan. He said the cardinal spoke the truth about the hardship facing many Nigerians.
According to the cleric, hunger and frustration have continued to spread across the country. He also urged Nigerians to support Onaiyekan. He said the cardinal raised concerns that some Pentecostal pastors have refused to tell the President.
‘Rice and money won’t stop voters’
Primate Ayodele criticised some religious leaders for remaining silent despite the country’s challenges.
“This is what I expected all these babas of faith. I don’t want to mention their names because it’s not sounding right before God.”
He praised Cardinal Onaiyekan for speaking openly during his meeting with President Tinubu.
“I give it to Archbishop Onaiyekan for what he has said to the president. Leave him. If Tinubu likes, let him take it or not, but there is anger and hunger in the land.”
The cleric said Nigerians would express their grievances during the 2027 election. He also warned that financial inducements would not change the outcome.
“By the election, you will see how people will show their grievances. Rice and money will not stop it. We are telling you to do the right thing. All these surrogate aides will push you into a fire that will burn you. Tinubu will lose this election.”
Adeleke urges residents to vote
Meanwhile, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged residents to participate in the August 15 governorship election. He spoke during a political rally in Ipetumodu after inaugurating the 10.4-kilometre Edunabon–Tonkere Road. The governor encouraged voters not to give in to intimidation or fear.
“Do not succumb to intimidation or fear as we head to the election. Go out and cast your vote for me again. We know that Osun belongs to us. You must be bold, be fearless, and nothing will happen to you.”
