The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted massive consignments of hard drugs in Kaduna, Edo, Kwara, Ogun, Taraba, Ondo, and Bauchi States. According to spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the agency recorded the arrests during a series of coordinated raids.

Massive Drug Haul in Kaduna and Bauchi

On October 26, NDLEA patrol officers along the Abuja–Jos highway in Kaduna State stopped a vehicle transporting 84,710 Tramadol capsules from Onitsha to Bauchi. Later that day, a follow-up operation in Bauchi led to the arrest of the intended receiver.

Two days later, on October 28, operatives at the Abuja–Kaduna tollgate caught another suspect moving 32,946 bottles of Akuskura, a banned psychoactive substance. Similarly, a 30-year-old man was arrested with 131.5kg of skunk in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna.

Operations in Ogun, Edo, and Kwara

In the same week, NDLEA operatives in Ogun State tracked three suspects from Benin Republic and eventually intercepted them along Abiola Way, Abeokuta, on November 1. They recovered 1,779kg of cannabis concealed inside their vehicle.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, officers on patrol along the Okhokho–Isi road in Uhunmwode LGA stopped two Toyota Sienna buses carrying 1,455kg of cannabis. In addition, NDLEA officers in Kwara State recovered 532,600 Tramadol and Exol-5 pills from a truck at Oko-Olowo, Ilorin.

More Arrests in Ondo and Taraba

Furthermore, in Ondo State, the agency seized 2,829kg of skunk linked to a 32-year-old woman at Ogbese, and another 737kg at Adegbola Junction, Akure. Consequently, the suspects are now under investigation for trafficking.

In Taraba, NDLEA operatives arrested two more suspects in Wukari with 30,370 Tramadol pills and 177 grams of methamphetamine.
They were reportedly transporting the drugs from Onitsha to Yola before they were caught.

NDLEA Expands Drug Awareness Campaign

Moreover, Babafemi confirmed that NDLEA commands nationwide intensified the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign. The sensitization programs reached schools, worship centers, and communities in Oyo, Lagos, Sokoto, Jigawa, and Kano States, among others.

Marwa Praises Officers, Vows Continued Action

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd.) commended the officers for their professionalism and resilience.
He also pledged that the agency will keep dismantling drug cartels while ensuring traffickers forfeit every illegally acquired asset to the Federal Government.
As a result, Marwa said Nigeria’s anti-drug campaign will remain relentless and balanced, focusing on both enforcement and rehabilitation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the NDLEA’s latest string of raids underscores its firm commitment to cutting off drug supply networks nationwide.
Ultimately, the agency says it will continue combining tough enforcement, public awareness, and global cooperation to achieve a drug-free Nigeria.
