Former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has stirred fresh controversy after he sent a harsh “thank you” message to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. In the message, he told the elder statesman that he “belongs to the zoo.”
Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, released the text to journalists in Abeokuta on Monday. Fayose accused the former president of making irresponsible comments during his 65th birthday celebration.
He also claimed that someone once suggested Obasanjo should stay “in the zoo.” Fayose argued that the former president had lost his sanity and demanded the return of money he said he previously gave him.
Obasanjo Responds After Fayose Insults Him
Obasanjo replied with a short message. He said Fayose’s note showed the kind of person he is. The former president also confirmed that he has already returned the money through an associate.
Akinyemi added that the exchange happened on November 17. The clash has revived public debates about the relationship between both men, who have disagreed for years.
Many Nigerians now question the growing hostility in political communication among senior leaders.
