The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has urged Nigerians to collect over 294,000 processed driver’s licences waiting at FRSC centres nationwide. Officials say the backlog is affecting service flow and slowing reforms.
PEBEC Praises FRSC for Clearing Backlog
The Council commended the FRSC for clearing its nationwide backlog and raising daily production to 15,000 licences. This improvement helps provide faster, more efficient service for citizens.
Collecting the ready licences will reduce congestion at centres. It will also speed up processing for new applicants. PEBEC emphasized that citizens must claim their licences to benefit from the modernized system.
Contactless Biometric System Speeds Delivery
The FRSC introduced a Contactless Biometric Capture System to issue permanent licences within 48 hours. This system removes the need for temporary permits and reduces errors. Officials say it also strengthens security and accuracy in verification.
Nationwide Sensitization Campaign
PEBEC launched a campaign to encourage Nigerians to collect their licences. The initiative aligns with its mission to improve regulatory efficiency and public service delivery. Clearing the backlog ensures that improved turnaround times are sustained.
