Kano State Approves N54.7 Billion for Development Projects

The Kano State Executive Council approved N54.7 billion to fund development projects across key sectors. The council aims to accelerate development and improve service delivery.


Projects Target Infrastructure, Education, Health, and Security

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi-Waiyya, told journalists that the council ratified submissions from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies totaling N54.8 billion. Key initiatives include:

  • Providing operational vehicles for the Polytechnic Take-off Committee in Gaya
  • Constructing the Unguwa Uku–Yanwaki–Limawa junction road
  • Renovating the Governor’s Lodge, Kwankwasiyya City
  • Expanding Government Technical Colleges in Dambatta and Ungogo
  • Establishing an Emergency Operations Centre at Government House

Additionally, the council approved building an official residence for the Chief Judge of Kano State.


Major Road and Infrastructure Developments

The council greenlit road construction and rehabilitation projects, such as:

  • Rogo–Gwangwan–Sundu Road
  • Gama Road network
  • Sarkin Yaki Road in Fagge
  • Independence Road, Sokoto, and Iyaka Roads
  • A 20-metre, 3-span bridge in Rogo LGA

For instance, it allocated N5.5 billion to complete the 5km dualised road in Gaya and N4.9 billion for the Rano–Saji road. Furthermore, the council approved funds for school renovations, furniture for 13 LGAs, health facility upgrades in Bichi, diesel supply for water facilities, and traffic control and surveillance installations at Government House.


Health and Security Enhancements

The council approved N344.7 million for routine immunisation in Q4 2025. It also addressed statements by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, which could provoke unrest. The council called for investigation and potential arrests to maintain security.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government and security agencies received commendation for their continued support. Allottees in Kwankwasiyya and Amana Cities were reminded to occupy their houses by Dec. 31 or risk losing ownership.


Recognition and Awards

The meeting concluded with Awards of Excellence presented to Governor Abba Yusuf by professional groups, recognizing his leadership and commitment to state development.
