Trump cancels Islamabad trip for Iran talks, says ‘They can call us’

US President Donald Trump has cancelled a planned diplomatic trip to Islamabad for talks with Iran.

Donald Trump confirmed that his representatives would no longer travel to Islamabad for discussions involving Iranian officials.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said too much time had been wasted on travel and claimed there was confusion within Iran’s leadership. He added that the United States had the advantage and said Iran could contact Washington directly if it wanted talks.

Trump later told Fox News that he did not want officials making another 18-hour flight “to sit around and talk about nothing.”

The cancelled trip reportedly involved envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The decision comes amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran over security, sanctions, and stalled diplomatic efforts.

Pakistan had been expected to host the latest round of discussions.

Trump’s move signals continued pressure on Tehran while leaving the door open for direct contact.
